There has never been a better time to find practical, sustainable
ways to reduce the impact of climate change. Ecofund is an initiative of
the Queensland Government to channel investment into protecting our natural
assets and expanding protected areas in Queensland.
Ecofund provides services to its clients to meet
regulatory environmental offset requirements and to purchase carbon
offsets. Ecofund has been established to provide Queenslanders with an
opportunity to take action against climate change, encourage local carbon
industry development and support positive environmental outcomes for
Queensland.
A key goal for Ecofund is to assist the Queensland Government with its
target of increasing protected areas in Queensland to 20 million hectares
by 2020 - an important goal that needs the support of all Queenslanders.
You'll be able to help reach this target by purchasing offsets from
Ecofund or by donating to the Balance the Earth trust.
Ecofund is gearing up to launch its exciting range of products
and services directly to Queenslanders and Queensland businesses in 2010.

Environmental Offsets
Environmental offsets are actions taken to counterbalance the environmental
impacts that result from developments. Ecofund will secure strategically located
offsets that provide additional environmental benefits by linking, buffering and
expanding Queensland's protected areas and by enhancing ecosystems through
protecting and managing land, vegetation and wildlife habitat.
Carbon Offsets
Voluntary carbon offsets are an important part of a well rounded carbon
reduction plan. The first step is to avoid and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This can be achieved by doing things like cutting back on your electricity use,
taking public transport or using your car less and buying local produce. We all
know it's impossible to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions completely and that's
when further action can be taken by purchasing carbon offsets - or as Ecofund
like to call it - ecobalancing.
Carbon offsets are an investment in a project or activity that reduces
greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere and are used to balance your
daily life. There are a range of offset products available, but Ecofund's
products are sourced from Queensland and include energy efficiency, renewable
energy and biodiverse forestry projects.
Ecofundraising
Ecofund will seek tax deductible donations from Queenslanders to help expand
national parks. Ecofund will encourage environmental
awareness and education as part of all philanthropic activities.
