Ecofund has been established by the Queensland Government to help achieve the goals set out in Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland.

Toward Q2: Tomorrow’s Queensland is the Queensland Government’s vision for the state of the future – a State that is strong, green, smart, healthy and fair. Within each of these areas, the government identified long-term, measurable and bold targets to be met by 2020.

The government’s Green Queensland targets focus on protecting the future of our landscape. They aim to cut Queensland’s carbon footprint by a third, and achieve a 50 per cent increase in protected natural areas and national parks.

At Ecofund, we’ll play a vital role in achieving these targets. In helping people, government and business to reduce and balance their greenhouse gas emissions, we’ll help protect the Queensland lifestyle and environment. And through our environmental offset services and initiatives for the Balance the Earth Trust, we’ll increase protected natural areas for conservation and public recreation.

The Queensland Government established Ecofund to support Green Queensland targets and localise their benefits. By cutting emissions and creating growth in the Queensland carbon and renewable energy markets, Ecofund helps ensure the economic activity generated by offsets stays in our own backyard.

By establishing partnerships with Queenslanders and business, Queensland has the potential to be a world-leader in innovative environmental initiatives.
